Super Bowl 42

February 4, 2008 by rz

This may be the best Super Bowl since the Patriots last played against the Eagles (who could have won if Andy Reid knew something called time management). There is so much hype into this because of the Patriots perfect season. But the best ending would be a Giants win in the last seconds and forcing the Patriots to breathe close to perfection and then suddenly lose it.

Florida Recap

January 31, 2008 by rz

After a momentum gaining win in South Carolina, John McCain has won the Florida GOP primary by a good 5% over Mitt Romney. As expected after declining in the polls, Rudy Gulliani drops out and endorses winner John McCain. A win in Florida was Rudy’s onluy chance since he didn’t campaign in the first few states. McCain now seems to be able to reach out to some more and more conservatives. This may be because he seems to be the candidate with the best chance of winning against the Democrats.
McCain strong stance on Iraq and the environment is what I like about him. He has experince in both the House and Senate, and more importantly military experience. He also seems to be more likely to appoint a more bypartisan Cabinet during Presidency. And he is more of a leader than Romney was as a businessman.
Next week Super Tuesday will be an interesting night to see who can win the nominatins in both parties.

The Palmetto Vote 2

January 27, 2008 by rz

The last Democratic primary till Super Tuesday. It seems likely that this could be a stepping for the candidates in the south. The latest polls show Barack Obama in the lead for the past month, so this should be a close one. My question is that how much John Edwards is a factor in this election? Does he take substaintial amount of votes for Hillary? I see him or Joe Biden as the Democratic Vice Presidential candidate. Don’t be suprised if a candidate makes a visit to Florida over the weekend.

X-Rays First Edition Update

January 24, 2008 by rz

It seems that Ray-Pirate connection keeps on going. The most inconsistent starter in Rays history, Casey Fossum, is now a Pirate. Fossum released last year and did not pitch for another team. See this post for others who joined in. The previous post has the X-Rays from last year and this up-coming season. A future X-Ray would probably be on the Red Sox.

Busy!

Been kinda busy lately for me, so I can’t blog as much as I want. I’l’ wait till the Florida primary to check that out. Until then I will be very busy.

The Vegas Caucus, Palmetto Vote

January 20, 2008 by rz

As of 2:00 P.M., it looks like Mitt Romney is going to win his third state in the GOP primaries. He will take momentum going into Florida and Super Tuesday. As for the South Carolina primary, it is any one’s game right now. Romney may get some late voters to go in after seeing his Nevada win. Look for a possible four-way split between Romney, McCain, Huckabee, and Thompson.
On the Democratic side, it is a toss-up in Nevada between Obama and Clinton. Later view more results.

Rays trade

January 18, 2008 by rz

Rays fill their super-utility role with a Willy Aybar for Jeff Ridgeway trade. Not the best player to fill that role in my opinion. But hopefully it will work out somehow. They also get minor leaguer Chase Fontaine.

X-Rays 2nd Edition Update

January 17, 2008 by rz

For now I will call this type of posts just “X-Rays”. This is just an update to the previous X-Rays; former left-handed pitcher Mark Hendrickson has signed to the Marlins to a $1.5 million dollar deal plus incentives. The 33 year old former NBA player will probably take Dontrelle Willis spot in the rotation and be a veteran presence for a very young Florida Marlin club.

Tampa Bay Rays Inc.

January 15, 2008 by rz

The new management of the Rays have been run and owned by businessmen. They know how the corporate world works and how to make money. Although few had actual baseball experience, they use their knowledge and love of the game to turn around this franchise and into future contenders. First they started with the Trop, moving spring training, added games to Orlando, expanded TV coverage throughout the state, and what intrigues me, no G.M. Their lastest projects, new logos and uniforms, and a new downtown, waterfront stadium which has become more of a campaign. To help them they hired a lobbyist for the Florida legislature, and a firm that does transportation and parking mangement. They seem to have plethor of connections and know how to run the business side of a Major League franchise.
It is the question of if they can handle the baseball aspect. They seem to use business approachs with the signing of a quality coach. Sounds like business lingo for on-field management.

The Process

January 12, 2008 by rz

After looking at the Florida elections website and seeing the process of actually creating and maintain a political party is long and time-consuming. It is probably why few good ones can be made. But this prevents stupid ones from forming too. Hoo-ray.
Still working on other posts.
